What is Story Sparkle?

The concoction of cultural chronicles.

“Would you like to try the lassi I made?

I moved to Neemrana a few months ago from a village near Lucknow. I do not think about going back - what is in the past, is in the past.”

(translated from Hindi)

- a local, Neemrana India

“I like to make people smile.”

- Jimoto, Tokyo Japan

“I never considered playing my piano a job”

- a local, Queenstown NZ

“You meet people from so many different backgrounds, you listen to their stories, you learn to cook what they cook. When I cook my food, it includes so many cuisines - from different parts of the world.

My way of living and cooking is so much different to my mother’s. This is because I have learned from so many different cultures - from the people I met throughout my life. I also picked up values when I travelled.”

- Divya, a Ken Behren

“With all the knowledge that I have now, if I could go back like Flash in time I would give the younger Sanam correct guidance and ideas so she could do better. But the journey I had, was still amazing because the person I have become is the best version of myself.

There is power when you realise who you are - there is a lot of power in that. And once you do realise that you just want to go next level.”

- Sanam, a Ken Behren

“I think I still try and speak in Hindi as much as I can with the people who understand it because I don’t want to lose that connection with the language - because once you lose the connection with your language, a lot of things die with it.

In India, we have this concept of ‘Jio aur Jine do’ that is live and let live - I think I still imbibe that. I don’t like too much interference in my life and I make sure I don’t do the same to other people.”

- Dev, another Ken Behren
